Those beautiful days during our Transylvanian travels offered many opportunities for vine filled experiences. After a very busy wine country day exploring Jedvei wineries we would conclude our day at Hotel Domeniul Vinului at Ciumbrud located in the Aiud municipality. The following morning before leaving we enjoyed a Domeniul Ciumbrud wine tasting.
Domeniul Ciumbrud at Day's End
Despite arriving at day's end this did not stop some members in our #winelover group from exploring.
At day's end our views were of the lavender field and two churches nearby.

The next morning after breakfast, under the shaded area adjoining the lavender field we did a wine tasting.
We tasted the following Domeniul Ciumbrud wines:
1. Domeniul Ciumbrud, Rhine Reisling Sec
2. Domeniul Ciumbrud, Sauvignon Blanc Demi-Sec
3. Domeniul Ciumbrud, Privilegium
4. Domeniul Ciumbrud, Mentor Cuvée

5. Domeniul Ciumbrud, Cardinal (Late Harvest Pinot Gris) 2009
Besides capturing the label details during a wine tasting we always love to converse. In this case Luiz is exploring some of the unique details about this wine.
For sure we always want to capture photos of what we tasted.

Things always go too quickly, and sometimes there is not enough time to explore more. I did manage however to capture a few photos of the winemaker (oenologist). The oenologist in this case for four of the five wines was Florin Dănoale.

Yes, indeed Luiz did manage to make her an honorary #winelover.

All too soon we were back in the van and off for more vine-filled explorations. This visit was a brief introduction to the Aiud municipality which, includes Aiud, the city, and ten villages. These are divided into four urban villages and six villages which are located outside the city proper but belong to the municipality. The four urban villages are: Aiudul de Sus, Gâmbaș, Măgina and Păgida. The rural villages are: Ciumbrud, Sâncrai, Gârbova de Jos, Țifra, Gârbova de Sus and Gârbovița.
Leaving the area that day we would get a brief glimpse into life in the rural villages along the route.
From Aiud it was onto Villa Vinea winery, Mica, Mures.
Getting to know Romania's Domeniul Ciumbrud wines was so delightful. For sure Romania is for winelovers therefore I invite you to join me in my travels in Romania and elsewhere at Wine Travels with Dr. Sharon and at Spaswinefood on Twitter and Facebook. Special thanks to Razvan Stoenescu, and all of our wonderful Romanian hosts for making my vine-filled explorations so memorable.
