Atlantic Ocean cruise wine adventures: Wine tasting #2, Old World vs. New World wines

We filled those earlier sea days cruising the Atlantic Ocean on a reposition cruise to Barcelona with wine tasting adventures. Call me a wine romantic for whenever, I travel, I always find a way to focus on wine. This time it was Old World vs New World wines!

I was first introduced to wine tasting offered while cruising last spring on our way back from Australia we took. After being introduced to wine events during a repositioning cruise from Sydney to San Francisco we looked for opportunities on our Atlantic Ocean repositioning from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona. This post, will feature the second wine tasting we attended during our Atlantic Ocean cruise.

Wine tasting #2:  Old World vs. New World Wines
The second wine tasting was led by Radu Iliescu from Transylvania, Romania. Radu, is the Head Sommelier on the Sun Princess. The Old World vs. New World wine tasting event was held in one of the ship's special dining room options at lunch time.

During the cruise John and I would attend a number of sessions led by Radu. He was assisted by the other sommeliers on board during the tastings.

Atlantic Ocean Repositioning Cruise: Wine Tasting #2

I always love viewing the table setup for a wine tasting.

Soon, after arriving in the restaurant, we are already to begin.

We were served a five course lunch menu, featuring foods paired with five wines. Let me now introduce the wine and food pairings.

Wine # 1: Domaine Pichot Le Marigny Vouvray, France

In case you are wondering what is Vouvray, it is a Chenin Blanc wine from the Loire Valley, France. It can be produced in dry to sweet wine styles, and also as a sparkling wine. We tasted a sparkling Vouvray wine.
